For your consideration is a beautiful and rare Minor League uniform (jersey and pants) from the St. Louis Cardinals organization that dates to the 1950s. Both items were manufactured by Southland Uniforms of Terrell, Texas and are made of cotton. The integrity of the fabric is in nice shape with no rips, holes or tears. The garments are a bit dirty, probably from a combination of game use and long-term storage this uniform is approx. 60 to 70 years old. All original buttons are present, and all piping is still securely sewn in place. The “Cardinals” logo across the front of the jersey is embroidered right onto the shirt itself, while the number “5” on the back is made of twill and sewn on. It’s difficult to know exactly which Cardinals Minor League team wore this uniform. In 1955, for example, the Cards sponsored 19 different Minor League teams, with 12 of them being nicknamed the Cardinals. It was impossible for all of these teams to receive hand-me-down uniforms from St. The vast majority have been forever lost over time, being thrown away after excessive use. The shirt is tagged as a Size 40 and measures approx. 21-1/2 inches across from pit to pit, and approx. 28 inches in length from shoulder to tail. The pants are tagged as a size 32, and measure approx. 32 inches across the belt line, and approx. 32 inches in length.
